The Health and Safety of our DOAHL family is our First priority.  As a valued member of our dance family, we would like to reassure you that we are adhering to the DOAHL Dance Academy Guidelines as the health and well-being of our students, their families, and our staff are our top priority. We will continue to monitor and implement the local, provincial, and federal recommendations as they’re announced. We take pride in our facility and how it operates and would like to highlight the policies we have in place at the studio to help our dance families stay healthy and have a safe reopening.

Prevention Steps in the Studio:

  • Dance rooms will be cleaned and disinfected frequently.

  • Class start and end times will be staggered to limit the number of students in a common space at the same time and adhere to physical distancing requirements.

  • Dancers need to arrive in proper dance attire/ outfit(s) and avoid wearing any extra layers of clothing, bring dance bags with necessary dance shoes only.

  • The lobby, changing rooms, and study room, will be closed for use.  As a result, dancers will be required to bring in all personal belongings in the studio and stored at least two metres apart.

  • We recommend jackets and personal belongings be kept with the parent/guardian outside of the building.  If weather prevents this, the student may bring their belongings inside the studio.

  • Waiting areas will be closed to all parents with dancers ages 6 and over.    If necessary, one parent will be allowed in facility with their dancers 5 years and under.  Parents will be advised of necessary physical distancing requirements and encouraged to wait outside or in their vehicles where/when possible.

  • Street shoes will be left out in the lobby.

  • While students are waiting for classes to start, please wait in cars until called in, parents must remain in cars, dancers with classes back to back will wait in the studio between classes.

  • Every class will be "touchless entry".  A teacher will open the doors when students are welcomed into the building; this will signal that all students from the previous class exited the building and we are ready for the next wave of classes to begin.

  • Each dancer will be asked to wear a mask into the building.  In accordance with the Region’s Medical Officer of Health mandates everyone entering DOAHL Dance Academy  premises must wear a “Face Covering” which includes a non-medical mask or face covering such as a bandanna, scarf or cloth (including a hijab and niqab) that covers the mouth and nose.

  • Exempted from wearing a Face Covering are:  children under the age of five, anyone who cannot wear a Face Covering because of a medical condition, and anyone who cannot place or remove a Face Covering without assistance.

  • Face coverings may be temporarily removed: while receiving services that would require temporary removal; consuming food or drink; for any emergency or medical purpose; and while actively engaging in an athletic or fitness activity (e.g. during dance / acro classes).

  • All students will be required to sanitize hands upon entering the building.

  • Bathroom breaks only in emergency situations, one at a time, sanitized in between classes

  • Please bring a bottle of water, as the kitchenette will not be available.

  • We have a sanitizer in each studio, the reception, the bathroom, and encourage you to utilize it frequently.

  • We encourage frequent hand washing (for at least 20 seconds before rinsing).

  • We have adjusted certain aspects of our classes to ensure social distancing for all dancers and teachers.

  • Students have the option to wear masks while dancing in the studio.

  HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  • Don’t bring toys, food, or any unnecessary items from home.

  • Before arriving at DOAHL, parent/guardian to do a temperature check of their child. If temperature is raised, the child must remain home as a precaution.

  • Don’t send your child to the studio sick or if a family member is sick.

  • Dancers missing a class due to illness can request an online class invite.

  • Don’t break any formal quarantine/government restrictions.

  • Encourage your child to cough and sneeze into their arm not in their hand.

  • Alert us if your child does have COVID-19 and have been to the studio within the last 14 days so we can contact their peers.

  • Please rest and seek medical assistance if symptoms (e.g. fever, chills, coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath) occur and/or the self-check suggests proper diagnosis.

  • Please follow the DOAHL precautions if you have come in contact with someone with COVID-19.

  • Please use the restroom and wash your hands thoroughly prior to entry to limit the amount of traffic into the bathrooms.

In the coming days and weeks, we will continue to monitor the situation and pass along any pertinent information we gather.   Thank you for your cooperation & valued support.
